he decided to visit us over the weekend :)
so it's been meal after meal after meal
we can totally feel our jeans tightening.

his visit brought over a part of singapore and it really really REALLY made me miss home.
this tiring year's coming to an end. thank god for that. cos although it hasnt been a hard year academically, it certainly has been mentally. i've never felt so uncertain bout the furture before. totally different from the past.
back in stc and cj, all i knew was that if I scored my A's, I would be able to carry on in singapore's education system. but it's become totally different here, scoring those A's might not guarantee me a place next year. & the worst part is that I dont know what will!
im just gonna pray that these few weeks would turn out well and that all these uncertainties would clear up soon.

on a brighter note,
he's really just the funniest & sweetest grandfather i could ever ask for.

half a year went by in a flash!!!
it was just a while ago, when pei and i were having pre-departure blues.
now that we're back for the winter break, i've noticed lots of things have changed. the ppl. the surroundings. the way i felt about certain things in life. how i miss those cj days where we could just chill all day at the grandstand or just roll around in the dance studio w/o a care in the world.
but im not complaining about anything that happened to me in the past year or anything,
perth was awesome.
it was a totally new experience with a new school, new friends and a totally different type of freedom :)
wont be long till i'll have to go back and definitely wont be long till i'll go through the pre-departure blues again.

30th Dec - 09th Jan

Day 1
Cairo
Right after getting off the plane, we made our way to the Pyramids of Giza, the oldest and only site in existence amongst the 7 Wonders of the Ancient World.

Then we came face to face with the Sphinx.

During lunch, I got to carry this lion cub :)

After a few more pyramids, we concluded the day with a camel ride

Day 2
Cairo - Luxor
From Cairo, we took a domestic flight to Luxor. After checking to our River Nile Cruise, we visited the Luxor Temple.

where we kinda started taking random pictures.

Next stop was another temple. The Karnak Temple, which is dedicated to the god Amon.

Day 3
Luxor - Edfu
We woke up early in the morning at 4 to go for a ride in the hot air balloon.

Followed by a visit to the Vally of the Kings and the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut.

Day 4
Edfu - Kom Ombo
After passing through the locks at Esna, we transfered by an Egyptian horse-drawn carriage to the Temple of Horus which is dedicated to the Falcon God.

That night, we had a glabia-themed party.

Day 5
Kom Ombo - Abu Simbel - Aswan
Morning call was at 2.30 am. With just 2 hours of sleep, we went to the Sun Temple of Abu Simbel

Then to the old and high dams

Day 6
Aswan - Cairo
Visited the ancient granite quarries and the unfinished Obelisk.

After lunch, we took a boat ride to the Temple of Philae, which rises from the waters of the Nile on the Island of Isis.

Followed by another ride on a traditional felucca around the Elephantine Islands.

Thereafter, we transferred to Cairo by an overnight train. Look at how small the room is!

Day 7
Cairo
Alabaster Mosque of Mohammed Ali

Next, we shopped at Khan Al Khalili, the largest bazzar in the Middle East with more than 4000 stalls.

Day 8
Cairo - Alexandria - Cairo
Drove north to Alexandria, 'Pearl of the Mediterranean'. Saw the Morsi Abu Abas Mosque, Catacombs....

We strolled along the shore of the Eastern Harbour that overlooks the Mediterranean.

had a wonderful time last week in perth. i've settled my housing,car,bank and bascially eveything else that needs to be done. now i just have to wait for murdoch to accept me =S
so while I was there, i got to walk ard murdoch and the STUDENT VILLAGE! damn it, i wanna stay there for at least a month but it's highly impossible that my mum's gonna let me. oh well.
im gonna go over again in oct, hopefully with pei too. we're gonna be MOVING IN! hahahaha. kinda really excited abt going over to study and all.

spent the day with my favourites :)
it's been awhile since we all hung out . days like this would become less frequent when sch starts. but oh well.
anyway, we had our first drive through at macs.

after a few rounds of mahjong at jack's hse, we decided to go on our mini adventure. the car started going crazy. like really REALLY crazy and because of our inability to find the prawn-fishing place :/ , we ended up at night safari

4th - 13th June 2008

5th June:
After 13 hrs in the plane, we landed in Moscow. Here's Moscow written in russian.
One interesting fact: Because Russia is so big, there are 10 time zones in the country!!!

First stop was at the Moscow State University. The university is one of the 7 tallest buildings in Moscow.

We next proceeded to the Red Square where St Basil's Cathedral was. Russia has so many cathedrals that you could find 2 or 3 cathedrals on the same street.

Just a random shot in a shopping centre. Oh, it was so hard to communicate with the people there. My mother took 45 minutes just to buy a pair of shoes.

We also visited the train stations also known as the renowned Metro Stations. It was referred to as the ' People's Palace' and definitely unlike all the mrt stations here. They were decorated like museums with differents portraits and mosaics. Here's a picture of the station at Victory Park. Apparently, russians like to use red in their pictures not because they were a communist country but because it was a symbol of beauty.

Moscow Circus! hahaha they had nicer costumes than us. But duh, they should right. I wouldnt say that the show was fantastic but it was pretty entertaining. It was also after the show that we realised that the sun sets really late. Our show ended at 10pm but ithe sky was still like 7pm. We later found out that the nights in St Petersburg were white!!!! I didnt see a single star during my 10 day stay there. hahaha

6th June:
We visited the famous Kremlin, a city within a city adorned with medieval towers and cathedrals, palaces and a big bell tower.
Here's one of the canons built to be used during wars. It was never used though because its size scared enemies.

Cathedrals of Assumption, Annunciation and the Church of the Virgin Gown's Deposition were all located in the Kremlin too, around the palace. This meant that royals were all baptized, announced and buried within the Kremlin.

After lunch, we began a 13 hour bus ride to a small town called Novgorod =/ super tiring.

7th June:
Took a walk outside after breakfast and I saw these 3 adorable puppies. I totally forgot that i was wearing white, so when they jumped up on me, i became muddy :S

Novgorod is one of the oldest towns in Russia. During WW2, so many people died that there were only 40 ppl left after the war.

We also visited the open-air museum of wooden art Vitoslavisty. The museum consists of old wooden houses, huts, churches brought from all over the Novgorod region.

We then continued with another 4 hour bus ride to St Petersburg.

8th June:
After visiting the Winter Palace (residence of the Tsars and home of the Hermitage, the world's largest museum of art), we went to the majestic Petrodvorets, the summer palace outside St Petersburg. In order to keep the palace clean, we had to wear plastic bags over our shoes.

Next was a river cruise along the streets of St Petersburg. There was free flow of champagne, vodka and cavier accompanied with 4 musicians who sang songs and played games with us.

9th June:
Picture stop at the Aurora which was the ship that shot through the summer palace during the revolution.

After the tour at St Issac's Cathedral and the Church Of Our Saviour On The Spilled Blood, we went souvenier shopping.
Look at all the russian dolls.

After shopping, we went for an original Russian Folk show.

After dinner, we made our way to the train station for our 8 hour overnight train back to Moscow.
Check out the temperature, it was 8 degrees! Oh and i forgot to mention, i only brought summer clothes with me because it was summer in Russia. So you can imagine how freezing cold I was when the ppl ard me, with 4 layers of clothes, were jumping up and down to keep warm.

10th June:
Upon arriving in Moscow, we drove to several towns like Sergiev Posad and Vladimir before stopping at Suzdal. Suzdal was a very small town with a population size of 12,000. Due to its small population size, the town has retained many of its historical and architectural monuments.

11th June:
Left Suzdal in the morning and returned to Moscow city.
It was another shopping trip but this time in Arbat district. Instead of looking at all the same things again, my mother made me sit there for 45 minutes to have a portrait of me drawn.

12th June:
Left early in the morning at 7am to begin another gruelling 13 hr flight back to sunny Singapore where stars do come out at night :) hahaha
A little jet-lagged now because it's only 9.35pm in Russia.

life has been pretty hectic for me with so many dance rehearsals and work. but it's been fun especially work. for those who dont already know, im working in a vet clinic in balestier. the working hours are crazy though, i start at 9.30am and can sometimes end ard 11.30pm. madness!!! but i get to watch all the interesting surgeries like removal of tumours, removal of eye catracts, fixing of a fractured hip and of course, castrations.
oh, there has also been a new addition to the family. ONE MORE PUPPY!!! so now there's three dogs running ard the hse.but someone has to teach him to pee on the newspaper!!!!

the past 2 weeks have been pretty eventful. collection of results, checking out the different courses, finding out then i can only go to australia next year, mambo and finally pulau tinggi.
i really hope that my choice of becoming a vet won't be a wrong one because i dont think i'll be applying for anything in singapore. if i suddenly change my mind halfway through my 6 year course, gosh!!!! i'll become a lost, pathetic soul and i'll have to start all over again :(
i pray i pray this wont be a wrong choice!

hello world! looks like i wont have to leave yet. my sister's already there though. so it could still mean next month, june or next year.it depends on my -shrieks-RESULTS! the scary part is that my mother can send me there without warning since i wont have to apply for any visas. but i guess going to australia would make me more independent since i would finally learn how to cook & work a washing machine.hahaha.

5th orientation today. not too bad i guess though it would have been better with more j3s. i crashed neighbrrs ig & pretended to be a j1 again. they didnt believe me though. oh well.

so another year has gone by, im glad i spent my new year in india. i got to spend some time with the children at the orphanage and nursery, and most importantly, my family. though it may sound cliche, the children at the orphanage have taught me to appreciate what i have and accept what has been given to me in life, be it good or bad. im definitely looking forward to going back there again :)
